PRAYING TOGETHER

A time and place for prayer together has been
established:12.15-1.00 pm on Mondays, in the room under the stairs off the church foyer.
We are experimenting with a pattern of prayer based around the Lord's Prayer. If you cannot join us in person, you might like to take a moment to remember First Church in prayer during that time. If anyone would like a copy of the prayer pattern we are using, please ask Anne Thomson for one.

At the end of the year we will look again at time and place and what we want to do when we come together to pray. There are so many different ways to pray - it would be good to explore some of them together. One very challenging contemporary pattern of prayer is the 24/7 prayer movement.

If you are looking for something to read over the
summer, try Pete Grieg's book Red Moon Rising to hear more about it.

ADVENT PACE - WAITING SPACE -
QUIET PLACE

By the end of November we will be into Advent, the
period of preparation for Christmas. We know how much preparation there is to do before Christmas, buying
presents, preparing food, sending Christmas cards, going to end of year activities, planning holidays. We know how much pressure there is at that time of year, on time and money and expectations.

Time out is at a premium at the busy end of the year. Time to be still. Time to relax. Time to remember 'the reason for the season'.
First Church will offer that space throughout Advent, as it does all year. But those who would like to share the space and some time of quiet reflection and preparation are invited to meet on:
Fridays in December (5, 12, 19) from 1pm till 2pm in the St Andrews Aisle.

Page three

Hi everyone, greetings and a warm welcome as we head into summer and the final stretch for the year. Last month a group of youth and young adults went on camp, over on St Martins Islands. It was a great weekend of learning, sharing, adventuring and much more. Every one that went experienced a fantastic and memorable time. Below are a few photos of the weekend.
Youth notices: Monday nights youth will continue till the end of November 5.30pm to 7.00pm although there will be some extra-organized activities to follow.
Evening Fellowship dates as follows;
2nd , 16th, 30th November and our final service on the 7th of December. Hope to see you all there,
God Bless. -Tai Taimataora, First Church Youth Worker
